The Bundesverband der Frischemärkte (BDF) is the leading association for wholesale fresh produce markets, market halls and weekly markets in the German-speaking region.

Representing approximately 95% of wholesale market operators across Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Northern Italy, the BDF serves as one of the most influential organisations within the European fresh food supply chain.

Its network includes:

• 17 wholesale fresh produce markets
• Around 450 weekly markets
• 6 market halls
• Approximately 30 supporting industry partners

Together, these markets form a critical part of the food distribution infrastructure that supplies restaurants, retailers, caterers and hospitality businesses across the region.
